Connect an AWS account

Learn how to connect an Amazon Web Services (AWS) account. When connecting an account, set up the following details:

  • The source of spending data for the account.

  • Account-level tags that describe ownership and other attributes for the account. Resource-level tags are defined by the cloud provider and cannot be modified.

Before you begin:

To connect an Amazon Web Services (AWS) account for a deployement, you need an access key rather than an IAM role.

  1. In the navigation pane, click Cloud accounts.

  2. In the Cloud accounts window, go to the AWS tab.

  3. Click Connect AWS account. The Connect AWS account wizard opens.

  4. Enter your Account name. If you have not set up your AWS account, see how to configure one.

  5. Enter your 12-digit AWS Account ID.

  6. Enter your Access key ID.

  7. Enter your Secret access key. You can toggle the visibility of this field.

  8. Click Connect. Perforce Unified Compliance verifies and establishes a connection to your AWS account and opens the AWS account setup page, where you need to review the details fetched from your AWS account, add an S3 bucket, and account-level tags to finish setting up your account.

Your account is not onboarded until you finish setting up your AWS account.
  9. Specify the S3 bucket name for the Cost and Usage Report (CUR). This report is set up at the time the account is configured. For instructions, see Create an automatic spending data export in Configure an AWS account.

You can skip this step and connect the source of spending data later, by updating the account connection. Until spending data is connected, you cannot review spending trends and insights or optimizations for the account.
  10. Specify the required account-level tags in the Tags section by entering the appropriate value in the Value field.

    • The following tags are required:

      • Product

      • Sub Product

      • Environment

      • Cost Center

      • Product Group

    • The Created by tag is optional.

  11. Click Submit to onboard the account.

If validation is successful, the account is connected and added to the Cloud Accounts list for AWS.
