Review cost trends and insights

In the Cost trends and insights window, you can review cloud spending over time, learn about additional savings that can be achieved, and then go directly to the Optimizations window to review and implement optimizations.

Specifically, you can take the following actions:

  • View overall spending and potential savings.

  • Adjust the time range.

  • Group the results.

  • View and act on optimization opportunities.

The Cost trends and insights window displays information for all connected cloud accounts. To open the window, in the navigation pane, click Cost trends.

View overall spending and potential savings

At the top of the Cost trends and insights window, you can view the following information:

  • The Total cloud spend pane displays the cost over the selected time range. You can hover over the chart to see detailed information.

  • The Achievable savings pane displays potential savings to be achieved based on the optimization opportunities that are open today. This pane is not affected by the selected time range. You can hover over the chart to see detailed information.

Under the panes, the table displays comparative data based on your selected time range and groupings.

Adjust the time range

By default, the time range is set to 12 months.

To adjust the time range:

  1. In the Cost trends and insights window, click the current time range to open the time settings.

    The time range list is at the upper right, near the Group by list.

  2. In the dialog, click Monthly to specify time based on months or Daily to specify time based on days.

  3. Make your selections.

  4. To update the view, click Apply.

Group results

To specify how results are presented in the charts and the comparison table, you can select a group. When you group results, you specify an overall category, such as cloud provider or region.

The list of groups can vary depending on your configuration.

To group results:

In the Group by list, click a group.

View and act on optimization opportunities

From the Cost trends and insights window, you can navigate directly to the Optimizations window to view lists of relevant optimizations. The lists include optimizations that are implemented and optimization opportunities that can potentially yield additional savings.

By viewing the detailed information, such as the status of each opportunity and the risk level, you can make informed decisions to optimize your cloud storage.

To view and act on optimization opportunities:

  1. In the Cost trends and insights window, in the Achievable savings pane, click View optimizations.

  2. Review the information in the Optimizations window and implement the opportunities that would benefit your organization. For more information, see Review open optimizations.

Alternatively, click an area in the Achievable savings donut chart. Then, in the comparative table, click View optimizations.
