Review open optimizations

Review, filter, and take action on open optimizations.

See Core concepts: Optimization for an overview of how optimization works. To learn about each of the optimization capabilities supported in Perforce Unified Compliance, see the following information:

  • Kubernetes container optimization: Make incremental adjustments to overprovisioned containers in Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) public and private clusters and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) public clusters.

  • Idle and low-utilization virtual machines: Detect underutilized AWS Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) instances and idle Azure VMs that may be candidates for parking.

  • Virtual machine rightsizing: Identify AWS EC2 instances and Azure VMs that may be candidates for resizing to reduce costs and improve efficiency.

In the Optimizations window, click the Open tab.

View your achievable savings

Perforce Unified Compliance shows estimated annual savings if all open optimizations in the current view are implemented. These are high-level estimates only, and do not represent guaranteed savings.

For Kubernetes optimizations, which are presented incrementally, the annual savings total includes estimated savings for the currently suggested step only. Higher savings may be achieved by implementing future opportunities on the same resource. See Kubernetes container rightsizing.

View the optimizations

For each open optimization, the following information is included:

  • Resource

  • Account

  • Suggested optimization

  • Risk

  • Status, for example Needs mapping or In progress

  • Savings, representing estimated monthly savings when the resource is optimized.

Search and focus the list

You can narrow down the list of opportunities using grouping, search, quick filters, or tag-based filters. See Group and filter the optimizations.

At the top of the screen, you can see the total number of resources in the current view. You can use the forward and back arrow controls to move between pages.

Export the list

You can export this list using the Export button in the upper right of the page. This exports the list into a CSV file. This file is available through your browser's download option.

Preview an optimization

You can preview an optimization to quickly assess its key details. Before taking action, you can open a detailed view of any finding.

  1. In the Optimizations list, select an optimization. The preview opens on the same screen.

  2. Review the information. The preview shows key details including the affected resource, current utilization, and the suggested optimization with its risk level.

  3. Do one of the following:

    • Close the preview to continue reviewing other optimizations. The display returns to the same list state, including filters, sorting, and scroll position.

    • Click a Recommendation to open the complete Optimization Details view. See Review a specific open optimization.

Act on optimizations for unmapped resources

To review and act on open optimizations for unmapped resources, follow the process to map the resources for optimization.
