Review a specific open optimization

Before you take action on an open optimization, you can open a detailed view of the proposed change. This view helps you understand the change, review usage patterns, and determine the next step for the resource.

Open the optimization details

Complete the following steps:

  1. In the Optimizations window, navigate to the Open tab.

  2. Search or filter to locate an open optimization to review.

  3. Click the optimization in the list to open the optimization preview for the resource.

  4. In the preview, click a Recommendation.

Review the optimization details

Perforce Unified Compliance shows the following details for the opportunity:

  • The affected resource.

  • An optimization summary, including:

    • The type of optimization, for example Vertical rightsizing.

    • The proposed adjustment, for example, a reduction in the number of cores being requested.

    • The risk level, helping you assess whether it is safe to proceed.

  • Estimated savings based on historical data for the affected resource. An estimate is provided for the current opportunity. For incremental Kubernetes optimizations, estimates include savings for this specific step, and savings if the resource is fully optimized. See Kubernetes container rightsizing.

  • A description explaining why this optimization is suggested.

View usage history and comparison values

You can review charts for the resource, with a visual comparison of current, suggested, and average values.

When you open the implementation details, the chart begins at the earliest date for which data is available.

  • Click a Usage option to display up to 7, 30, 60, or 90 days of data. The display includes usage from the earliest date within the selected range for which data is available.

    Longer ranges are available only when enough data exists. For example, with 55 days of data, you can display views for the past 7, 30, or 60 days, but not the past 90 days.

The summary information above the chart updates dynamically to reflect the amount of data in view.

Take action

After reviewing the optimization details, take the following steps to implement the optimization:

  1. In the Estimated Savings pane, click Download YAML template.

  2. Share the mapping template with your DevOps team to map the resource for optimization.
