Optimize your infrastructure

Address inefficiencies in your cloud infrastructure by viewing, implementing, and tracking optimizations.

You can review open optimizations, map resources to enable automated pull requests (PRs), and track the optimizations as they are implemented and merged.

This version of Perforce Unified Compliance supports the following optimization capabilities:

  • Kubernetes container optimization: Make incremental adjustments to overprovisioned containers in Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) public and private clusters and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) public clusters.

  • Idle and low-utilization virtual machines: Detect underutilized AWS Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) instances and idle Azure VMs that may be candidates for parking.

  • Virtual machine rightsizing: Identify AWS EC2 instances and Azure VMs that may be candidates for resizing to reduce costs and improve efficiency.

See Core concepts: Optimization for an overview of optimization capabilities.

Before you begin

Before optimization can take place for a cloud account, your administrator must ensure the following:

  • The account is configured and securely connected.

  • The prerequisites for specific optimization types are in place.

  • Perforce Unified Compliance is integrated with your GitHub version control.

If you have issues with account connection or version control integration, contact your administrator.

Open the list of optimizations

You can access the optimizations in one of the following ways:

  • To view optimizations related to findings in the Cost trends and insights window, click View optimizations in the Achievable savings pane or click an area in the Achievable savings donut chart. Then, in the comparative table, click View optimizations.

  • To go straight to the Optimizations window, click Optimizations in the navigation pane.
