Step 2: Configure the Cost Management export

Perforce Unified Compliance reads spending data from an Azure Cost Management export written to a Blob container in an Azure storage account. If this export does not already exist, you must configure it for each subscription to be connected.

Access to the Blob container is authorized via the Storage Blob Data Reader (SBDR) role assigned to the Service Principal.

Before you begin

To generate cost exports, you require the following roles:

  • Cost Management Contributor
  • Storage Account Contributor
  • Storage Blob Data Contributor

You must also ensure that the Microsoft.CostManagementExports provider is enabled on the subscription.

Create a Cost Management export

Create a FOCUS-compliant export to a Blob container:

  1. In the Azure portal, go to the Exports section of Cost Management.

  2. Select Add Export.

  3. Select Cost and usage (FOCUS) as the type of export.

  4. Configure the export with the following settings:

    • Granularity: Daily

    • Format: CSV

    • Destination: Blob container

  1. Specify the storage container:

  2. Note the following values, which are required for connection in Perforce Unified Compliance:

    • Storage Account Name: The name of the storage account that hosts the Cost Management export

    • Container Name: The Blob container within the storage account

    • Resource Group: The resource group containing the storage account

  1. Save the configured cost export.

Verify the export is working

After configuring and saving the export:

  1. Wait for the first daily export to complete. This may take up to 24 hours.

  2. Check the Blob container to confirm that .csv export files are present.
