Prepare for disaster recovery

Cyberattacks, natural disasters, power and network outages, and application failures can occur without warning, resulting in damage to systems and data. By having a plan for backup operations and disaster recovery, you can help your organization recover.

Back up and recover

Create backups of your SCM deployment. The backups can be used to roll back your installation to a previous state or restore your deployment after a disaster. Test the backups regularly to help ensure that the data is not corrupted or altered. For instructions, see the following topics:

  • Generate a backup

    Generate a backup file using a Bolt plan. This file is stored in the backup directory on the SCM host system.

  • List existing backups

    Generate a list of previous backups.

  • Restore from backup

    When necessary, use a backup file to revert to a previous version of your SCM installation without changing the underlying infrastructure.

  • Restore to new infrastructure

    When necessary, use a backup file to restore your SCM installation to a new infrastructure.
