Backup and restore with an external database

CD’s backup and restore plans still run in external mode, they back up and restore container volumes (logs, tokens), but they skip the database. Both plans print a reminder to use your provider’s tools for the database portion.

Use your provider’s backup facilities for the database, for example, Amazon RDS automated backups, snapshots, and point-in-time recovery. CD’s application data lives entirely in the cd4pe and query databases, so a provider backup of the instance captures CD’s state.
