Reference: Content of a compatibility report
A compatibility report provides detailed information about your current and planned Puppet configurations.
Report tabs
The tabs at the top of the report provide a numerical overview of the current module estate and suggested changes. Only tabs that are relevant to the content of the report are displayed.
Tab label | Description |
All modules | The total number of modules covered by the report, including existing modules, modules that require upgrade or replacement, modules that must be added, and modules that have no compatible version |
Modules with no change | The number of installed modules that meet requirements and require no changes |
Modules need upgrade | The number of installed modules that must be upgraded to meet requirements |
Superseded modules | The number of installed modules that are outdated or incompatible and must be replaced by different modules |
Dependency additions | The number of new modules that must be installed to meet requirements |
Incompatible modules | The number of installed modules that have no compatible versions to meet the upgrade requirements |
Unresolved modules | The number of installed modules that might have a compatible version, but other modules in the hierarchy are not compatible with the proposed configuration |
Specified modules | The number of modules that you specified in your upgrade plan |
Module tags
In the Status column, the tags provide information about the status of each listed module as it pertains to the planned upgrade.
Tag label | Description |
NO CHANGES | The installed module meets requirements and requires no changes. |
NEEDS UPGRADE |
The installed module must be upgraded to meet requirements. For an upgrade suggestion, see the Suggested column. The version in that column is the same as or later than the version that you specified, and it is the earliest version that meets compatibility requirements. |
DEPENDENCY ADDITION | The installed module is outdated or incompatible and must be replaced by the listed module. |
SUPERSEDED | The module is suggested to replace an outdated or incompatible module. |
INCOMPATIBLE | The module has no version that is compatible with your target version of Puppet Enterprise or open source Puppet. |
UNRESOLVED | The module might have a compatible version, but other modules in the hierarchy are not compatible with the proposed configuration. |
SPECIFIED | The module was specified in your upgrade plan. |
